According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2024, the net migration for Virginia was 61,439. Fairfax County had the highest net migration (8,053) followed by Chesterfield County (3,917), and Loudoun County (3,212). On the other hand, Norfolk city had the lowest net migration (-1,180), followed by Newport News city (-837), and Virginia Beach city (-609).
Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
