Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2017, among all North Carolina counties, Bertie County had the highest percentage of its population who identified their ethnicity as Non-Hispanic Black or African American (61.3%), followed by Hertford County (60.08%), and Edgecombe County (57.42%).
