Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2017, the US Non-Hispanic Black or African American Alone citizen population was 38,135,390 and represented 12.77% of the total US citizen population.

Among all US states and DC, Texas had the highest Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population (3.10M), followed by Georgia (3.09M), and Florida (2.89M).

In terms of percentages, District of Columbia had the highest percentage of its citizen population being Non-Hispanic Black Alone (49.76%), followed by Mississippi (37.98%), and Louisiana (32.69%).
