Michigan Net Migration By County in 2022

According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2022, the net migration for Michigan was 24,819. Ingham County had the highest net migration (11,908) followed by Washtenaw County (2,469), and Oakland County (2,212). On the other hand, Wayne County had the lowest net migration (-12,181), followed by Genesee County (-1,115), and Kent County (-930).

Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
