Illinois Net Migration By County in 2024

According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2024, the net migration for Illinois was 56,720. Cook County had the highest net migration (30,570) followed by DuPage County (4,966), and Will County (3,423). On the other hand, St. Clair County had the lowest net migration (-268), followed by McDonough County (-256), and Adams County (-230).

Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
