Non-Compliance Description:

HATS Category VIII: Stunning Effectiveness Burnett Meats Est. M47735, while performing the livestock humane handling verification task, I, CSI REDACTED, observed the following non-compliance. Approximately 0745 hours Establishment personnel moved a Steer into the Knock box and restrained with head gate. The initial stun attempt with a Handheld Captive Bolt Device (HHCB) was observed to contact the animal but was ineffective, as evidenced by the animal remained standing. The stun operator reloaded the HHCB device and delivered immediate and effective corrective actions, rendering the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. The Knock box was tagged with USDA reject #B19680791 and REDACTED, plant owner and manager, was notified of the non-compliance and of the regulatory control action.
