Loss of Drive Power or Park Function

ZF North America, Inc. (ZF) submitted a defect information report based upon the recall determinations made by BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) and Chrysler (FCA US, LLC). An insufficient weld in the transmission control unit can allow transmission fluid to leak on to electrical components, resulting in a loss of drive power or park function.

Upper and Lower Steering Shafts May Separate

ZF North America, Inc. (ZF) is recalling certain Global Steering Columns with part number A14-20679-001. The bolts securing the upper and lower steering shafts may have been improperly tightened.

Consequence Summary:
The loose bolts can cause steering system components to separate, resulting in loss of steering control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action:
ZF will work with DTNA to inspect and replace the steering shafts and bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 20, 2025. Owners may contact ZF customer service at 1-855-228-3203 (US/Canada).

Control Arm May Crack Subframe During Installation

ZF North America, Inc. (ZF) is recalling certain Lemförder track control arms with part number 38526 01, and TRW track control arms with part number JTC 1619. The bush inner sleeve may be too short, which can cause excessive compression of the track control arm and crack the subframe during installation.

A cracked subframe may damage the front axle carrier and cause a loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action:
ZF will work with dealers and distributors to inspect and if necessary, replace the bushing, subframe, and/or track control arm, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 7, 2025. Owners may contact ZF customer service at 1-734-416-6200.
