According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2021, the net migration for Iowa was 5,645. Dallas County had the highest net migration (3,014) followed by Polk County (2,603), and Johnson County (1,142). On the other hand, Linn County had the lowest net migration (-1,366), followed by Black Hawk County (-630), and Dubuque County (-534).
Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
