Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, the Black or African American Alone population in New Mexico was 60,042 and represented 2.84% of the total New Mexico population (2,114,371).

Among New Mexico counties, Bernalillo County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (25,574), followed by Doña Ana County (5,985), and Sandoval County (4,693). Harding County had the lowest (14).
