Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, the Black or African American Alone population in Missouri was 725,454 and represented 11.71% of the total Missouri population (6,196,156).

Among Missouri counties, St. Louis County had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (249,625), followed by Jackson County (166,279), and St. Louis city (121,857). Scotland County had the lowest (8).
