According to data from US Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), in 2024, out of 6,553,105 Home Purchase Mortgage Loan Applications, 621,707 were denied (i.e. 9.49%).
By Race: The White racial group had the highest percentage of the home purchase mortgage loan application denials (56.57%), followed by Uknown (17.10%), and Black or African American (15.12%).
By Ethnicity: The Non-Hispanic White ethnicity group had 39.74% of the home purchase mortgage loan application denials, and Hispanic or Latino ethnicity group had 21.07% of the home purchase mortgage loan application denials.
