Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, there were 710,604 people that identified as Non-Hispanic White alone in South Dakota and they represented 82.28% of the total population of South Dakota in 2016. Minnehaha County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic White alone population (154,755), followed by Pennington County (87,760), and Lincoln County (50,980). On the other hand, Buffalo County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic White alone (301), followed by Oglala Lakota County (619), and Ziebach County (668).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic White alone, McPherson County had the highest percentage (97.14%), followed by Faulk County (97.11%), and Hand County (96.7%).
