Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 697,371 people that identified as Non-Hispanic White alone in South Dakota and they represented 83.63% of the total population of South Dakota in 2012. Minnehaha County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic White alone population (149,042), followed by Pennington County (84,409), and Lincoln County (45,745). On the other hand, Buffalo County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic White alone (310), followed by Oglala Lakota County (479), and Ziebach County (672).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic White alone, McPherson County had the highest percentage (97.82%), followed by Faulk County (97.75%), and Hanson County (97.55%).
