Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2020, there were 1,650,679 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Virginia and they represented 19.11% of the total population of Virginia in 2020. Fairfax County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (114,757), followed by Henrico County (100,418), and Prince William County (99,487). On the other hand, Highland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (21), followed by Craig County (21), and Dickenson County (76).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Petersburg city had the highest percentage (75.96%), followed by Emporia city (64.73%), and Greensville County (59.81%).
