Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, there were 2,847,019 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in New York and they represented 14.50% of the total population of New York in 2016. Kings County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (787,465), followed by Bronx County (427,457), and Queens County (414,155). On the other hand, Hamilton County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (41), followed by Schuyler County (151), and Lewis County (198).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Kings County had the highest percentage (30.19%), followed by Bronx County (29.61%), and Queens County (17.96%).
