Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, there were 191,053 people that identified as Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone in New Mexico and they represented 9.04% of the total population of New Mexico in 2023. McKinley County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone population (52,178), followed by San Juan County (48,362), and Bernalillo County (31,479). On the other hand, Harding County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone (1), followed by De Baca County (25), and Mora County (30).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone, McKinley County had the highest percentage (75.84%), followed by Cibola County (43.6%), and San Juan County (40.08%).
