Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, there were 11,761,037 people in Illinois who had Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 93.00% of Illinois population), and 885,820 people who did not have a Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 7.00% of Illinois population).

The following age groups had the highest percentage of their population who did not have a health insurance coverage: the 26 - 34 Years age group (12.27%), followed by the 19 - 25 Years age group (11.54%), and the 35 - 44 Years age group (11.07%).
