Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the number of employed US civilians (16 years and over) who were employed as Hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists was 822,495 (i.e. 0.52% of all civilian employees). Among those employed as Hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists, 8.46% were Males, and 91.54% were Females.

The median earnings for all Hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists was $30,368, which was 75.41% less than the median earnings for all US civilian employees. The median earnings of Female Hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists was 26.43% less than that of their male counterparts.
